The 230-grain bullet is weighted to match the most common .45 ACP practice loads and housed within a reloadable brass casing. A light base crimp on the casing prevents setback from causing a misfire. The brass case and the non-caustic Boxer primer at its base are both coated in nickel, giving them resistance to moisture-based corrosion. In addition, the nickel plating makes feeding and ejection much smoother for dependable function as a pistol becomes hotter and more fouled. Federal takes an extra measure by lacing their HST load’s powder with flash suppressant that helps shooters reacquire their sights much faster while avoiding blindness in low-light settings.
