Southern Tactical built these using receivers milled by Tortort, and the quality shows. The machining is crisp, the steel feels bulletproof, and the black oxide finish looks great alongside the original surplus upper. It feels incredibly solid in the hand.

Buying this complete pistol is the smartest way to start a Skorpion project. The receiver comes pre-drilled and tapped for the original folding stock adapter plate. Once my ATF Form 1 tax stamp clears, screwing the stock on will take less than two minutes.

Because these are converted from original select-fire open-bolt military designs to a closed-bolt semi-auto, I expected a terrible trigger. Instead, the trigger pull is crisp with a very short, positive reset. It is much better than most AK triggers.

When I first unboxed it, the front takedown pin was so tight I needed a punch to push it out, and the charging knobs were stiff. After a thorough cleaning, lubing it generously, and running two boxes of ammo through it, everything smoothed out beautifully.

The original Czech wood grip looks fantastic and is in excellent surplus condition. However, the grip angle is very vertical and the overall size is quite small. If you have extra-large hands, it can feel a bit cramped until you get used to it.
